What is the purpose of counseling?
Professional therapy provides the opportunity
for an individual, couple, or family to identify problems and focus
on solutions. To help accomplish this, the therapist teaches skills
that enable clients to take control of their behavior and
relationships.
Who uses counseling services?
There are times in many people’s lives when
they feel unable to cope with life’s situations. For some people,
painful past experiences, dissatisfaction in the present, stressful
events, or concerns about the future interfere with their ability to
enjoy life or maintain physical health.
People who benefit from therapy may be having
problems:
- With family, social or work relationships
- Parenting children, grandchildren, blended or
temporary situations
- With alcohol or controlled substances
- Controlling their temper or emotions
- With feeling depressed, anxious or worthless
- Adjusting to enforced life changes, death,
financial loss, job loss or divorce
- Managing stress to a degree that is affecting
how they function
- Coping with aging and associated losses
- Adjusting to sudden illness or disability
How can therapy help?
Therapy sessions enable people to discuss
issues and acquire a better understanding of problematic situations.
With fresh insight, the client learns useful skills for problem
solving and achieving realistic goals.
A comprehensive assessment will also identify
areas requiring special testing or medical attention.
Confidentiality
Caring Alternatives recognizes the sensitive
and confidential nature of the counseling process and is committed
to keeping all therapy sessions private. All staff abides by laws
governing HIPAA, client/patient confidentiality and the right to
privacy.
Who delivers Therapy?
Therapy sessions are provided by psychologists
and clinical social workers licensed by the State of Michigan and
State of Ohio.
How often can I receive Therapy?
During the initial interview the therapist
will recommend an individual treatment plan and schedule sessions
specifically designed for your situation.
Is counseling covered by insurance?
While many insurance plans and Employee
Assistance Programs (EAPs) cover outpatient
mental health therapy, it is important that you confirm your
coverage in relation to our facility and therapists. You are
ultimately financially responsible for the services you receive.
CAI's billing staff will assist you in
obtaining coverage/reimbursement information prior to your first
appointment. When such information is unavailable, you will be
required to pay cash for your appointments until insurance payments
are received. If requested, your therapist will provide information
required for you to file an insurance claim for out of pocket
reimbursement.
As a participating provider, CAI is required
to collect deductibles and co-pays as determined by your insurance
company. Co-pays are due at the time of service. You are financially
responsible for any treatment not covered by your insurance.
During your initial visit, the therapist will discuss
a number of options for treatment and expected cost. If you decide
not to continue therapy there will be no further charge. If you are
not satisfied with your first appointment, you are entitled to
request a refund from the therapist at the time service is rendered.
Fees and Payments
Our fees are set within customary industry
rates with consideration to type and frequency of treatment. The
initial intake fee is quoted when you make your appointment. Payment
is due when service is rendered.
During your initial visit, your therapist will
determine the best course of treatment and quote relevant fees. When
a third party or insurance company is involved, treatment plans will
be tailored to meet their specifications.
We accept exact cash, money orders, valid
checks, pre-approved third party payments, and qualified
pre-approved insurance. Under certain circumstances, payment
plans are available and must be set up prior to service.
